Meet Dana Wilders. Dana, a bankruptcy attorney, has been practicing law since 2007 and has been with Krigel & Krigel since 2009. Her passion for helping people, paired with her storied background and deep knowledge of bankruptcy law, makes her the ideal attorney for those who have fallen on hard times.
Law School at the University of Missouri-Columbia
While in law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 was passed, a major reform of the bankruptcy system. As she learned about bankruptcy through her courses, she found it fascinating to watch the law unfold before her.
Helping People Through Chapter 13
After graduating Dana took a job with another firm, rolling with the changes from the Reform Act of 2005 and honing her skills with Chapter 13 cases. She quickly realized how much she enjoyed interacting with her clients every day and helping them rise above their tough times.
Why Krigel & Krigel
After a couple years Dana decided to make the move to Krigel & Krigel and hasn’t looked back since. The collaborative culture of the law firm makes everyone better, and is a win for clients.
“I can walk down the hall and bounce ideas off anyone at the firm, which is pretty unique. We all recognize we are part of a bigger team and we work together to find creative solutions for our clients.”
In addition to enjoying the team-first culture, Dana has the rare opportunity to work on Chapter 7 Bankruptcy cases with Trustee Erlene Krigel. This allows them to see both sides of the bankruptcy puzzle, giving them a broader view of each case, and the law itself. A benefit not offered by most law firms, and something that helps them fight for their clients.
Dana is also a member of the Volunteer Attorney Project Panel through Legal Aid, donating her time and offering legal aid to individuals who need bankruptcy assistance but who don’t have means to pay for it.
Life with Two Little Ones
Beyond life at Krigel & Krigel, Dana spends most of her time outside of the office with her two young children. As a family they like to travel, spend time outside playing and barbequing, and of course – cheering on her alma mater: the Missouri Tigers.
