Erlene Krigel has been helping clients for 35 years and now serves as Krigel & Krigel’s managing partner and the head of the firm’s bankruptcy practice group. She is also the feature of this week’s blog post as part of our ongoing attorney spotlight series.
Erlene’s Work
Erlene has a unique background and an impressive track record within the bankruptcy field. More specifically, she has nearly 30 years of experience serving as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Western District of Missouri and she has practiced on just about every side of the table, from serving as trustee to representing individuals, companies, and even creditors. It is this wide area of expertise that her clients love about her practice and why many of her clients give her big hugs at the conclusion of their cases.
It is this desire to help people that really drives Erlene’s work. She enjoys helping her clients solve their problems and rather than practicing law simply to make a living, she practices to help people through difficult times and to get a fresh start.
In addition to her desire to help clients, she also enjoys serving as the firm’s managing partner, a role that she has held since 1984. As managing partner, she is proud to help the other 20 individuals at the firm enjoy their work and the benefits they are able to offer their clients.
As a result of her excellent practice, she has also been named a Super Lawyer and maintains an AV rating with Martindale Hubbell, both of which rely on peer reviews and nominations.
Outside the Firm
Erlene is very active within her firm, but equally active outside the firm. She and her husband Sandy (also a founding partner of the firm) enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities including exercising, golfing, skiing, hiking, and biking.
She is also active in her community serving in many different roles such as a member of the UMKC Law Foundation Board of Trustees and also a member of the Board of Jewish Family Services (both of which she previously served as president). Erlene is also a member of the KU Med Women’s Heart Health Center Organization, a non-profit aimed at promoting heart screenings for women.
