Erlene W. Krigel was admitted to the Missouri Bar in September, 1979. She attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree and the University of Missouri at Kansas City for her law degree.

Erlene Krigel is one of the managing partners of Krigel & Krigel, P.C., a general practice law firm in Kansas City, Missouri, and has been with the firm since it began in September, 1979. The majority of her practice is devoted to bankruptcy matters.

In February, 1985, she was appointed by the United States Department of Justice to serve as a Chapter 7 panel trustee in the Western District of Missouri, Western Division. She was the first woman appointed as a trustee in the Western District of Missouri. She is regularly appointed to approximately 500 cases per year. In each case, it is her responsibility to determine if assets exist, to recover the assets, liquidate the assets and distribute the funds on hand to the creditors.

In addition, in September, 1996, she was appointed by the U.S. Trustee's Office to serve as a Chapter 12 panel trustee in the Western District of Missouri. These are farming bankruptcy cases.

Erlene Krigel is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Kansas City Women's Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. She was appointed in 1995 and serves as a trustee on the Board of Trustees for the UMKC School of Law.
